About Us

We are Olivia Priemus and Niamh Palmer, two Year 13 students from St Hilda’s Collegiate School. We created DonateMate as our Young Enterprise Business because we wanted to solve a real problem affecting New Zealand families, schools, and charities.

Every year, many people give generously to schools and charities but do not claim back the 33% donation tax credit they may be entitled to. Often, this is because the IRD process feels confusing, time-consuming, or difficult to navigate.

DonateMate exists to make this process easier.

Our Mission is to remove the confusion around donation tax credits by providing simple, step-by-step resources that help donors claim with confidence. At the same time, we support schools and charities by helping them communicate the value of donation tax credits more clearly to their communities.

Our motto is “Make Your Giving Go Further.” To us, this means helping donors grow the impact of their giving. When people understand that they can claim back part of their donation, giving can feel more affordable, accessible, and worthwhile.

DonateMate is about more than getting money back. It is about helping generosity go further, so that families, schools, charities, and communities can all benefit.

Schools

School donations play an important role in supporting students, resources, opportunities, and wider school communities. However, many families do not realise they may be able to claim back part of their donation through IRD.

DonateMate helps schools make this process easier to understand.

We provide simple, school-friendly resources that explain donation tax credits in a clear and accessible way. Instead of parents having to work through the IRD process on their own, DonateMate gives them step-by-step guidance so they can feel more confident about claiming.

For schools, this creates a valuable opportunity. When families understand that they may be able to claim back up to 33.33% of eligible donations, giving can feel more affordable and achievable. This can help schools strengthen communication with parents, increase awareness around donation tax credits, and encourage greater support for the school community.

DonateMate can support schools through customised resources such as branded guides, parent email templates, newsletter wording, reminder content, and simple explanations that can be shared directly with families.

Our motto, “Make Your Giving Go Further,” reflects what we want to help schools achieve. By making donation tax credits easier to understand, schools can help families see that their giving can have an even greater impact.

Charities

Charities rely on the generosity of donors to continue creating positive change in their communities. However, many donors do not realise they may be able to claim back part of their donation through IRD.

DonateMate helps charities communicate this more clearly.

We create simple, donor-friendly resources that explain how donation tax credits work and guide people through the claiming process. This helps remove confusion and makes donors feel more informed, confident, and supported.

For charities, this is a way to strengthen donor relationships and encourage future giving. When people understand that they may be able to claim back up to 33.33% of eligible donations, donating can feel more accessible and worthwhile. This can help donors feel that their generosity is not only valued, but also able to go further.

DonateMate can support charities through branded donation tax credit guides, donor email templates, website wording, social media content, and end-of-financial-year reminders.

Our aim is to help charities make donation tax credits easier for their supporters to understand, so that generosity can create an even greater social impact.
